This website has been set up for you, the Rhythm Train drummers. Please use it and share your ideas, news and photographs. It would be lovely if the kids wanted to submit something for their kids zone too, anything at all - pictures, jokes, a poem, what they like about drumming or anything at all!! Adults, if you would like to organise anything, say a social event or have any ideas for this website, please don't keep it to yourself, let us know! I have put contact details for Martyn and myself below. |
Thank you I think we all owe a huge thank you to so many people that help to make Rhythm Train what it is, where do we start! I don't want to start rattling off names here in case I miss anyone, but I think everyone would agree that Martyn does so much, that the group probably wouldn't really exist without all his time and effort. Then there are all the Committe members that do so much behind the scenes to keep things running. The mums and dads too do a great job in organising their kids to get them to practice sessions on time and arranging their lives around the kids. Then there are all the people that helped to make costumes for the carnival and organise the make up, far too many to mention and many whom worked away over the last few weeks behind the scenes and whom many of us never even met, especially Lisa who did an amazing job. Then there are all the people that helped out on the day of the carnival, wow what a great job. The make up artist team were just brilliant. And what perfectly behaved children we have, they were all so very well behaved on carnival day, despite lots of hanging around when all they wanted to do was drum, they did us proud! Then there are all those parents and children that came along on our parades and picked up our mess, the sticks we dropped, held the drums when we tried to attach them and gave us general support. Then of course there are all those Rhythm Train drummers that provided morale when it was needed, laughter when we got nervous and a huge smile and pat on the back at the end! Thank you to ALL of you. Amanda - Vice Chairman (I think) Aug '08 |
Drums and equipment Just a reminder that all of the equipment Rhythm Train currently uses belongs to Martyn. These are his own personal possessions and we should treat them with respect and use them properly. We are very lucky that all of this equipment is made available to us every week, and it certainly shouldn't be a one man job loading and unloading everything. Also, occasionally straps and the odd drum has gone missing, it is quite easy to accidentally take straps home without realising, if this happens please bring them back with you at the earliest opportunity, this can be done anonymously - you won't be in trouble :-D Amanda, Aug '08 |
Rhythm Train T-shirts We are in the process of giving every member a T-shirt with our new Rhythm Train logo on the front and back (see bottom of page). These T-shirts can then be worn for our forthcoming events with black trousers or skirts. Most members have supplied their preferred size and colour, however if you haven't attended for a while or have been missed out, please speak to Amanda.

Members of our group took part in this years Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK. It was a 5km route, and we walked this with our drums! If you would like to join us for this even in 2009, or would like to contribute by means of sponsoring, then please speak to Linda for more details. http://www.raceforlife.org/ |
Teesside Gospel Choir (TEGOCHOIR) As seen on TV (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5OgqcRUEumc) If anyone is interested in joining this American style gospel choir, singing with occassional visits to traditional style, usually modernised then please contact Sam. It is for adults but children are allowed if accompanied by parents or appropriate adults who will take responsibility for their own children or guardians. Rehearsals will be once a month but may be increased adhoc. http://www.gracecovenantministries.org.uk/ |
Committee Meetings Although we are a fairly new group, we do have an elected Chairman, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members. As the group has now increased in size, hopefully more members will join us in forthcoming meetings. Dates and times are yet to be confirmed, but if you are interested please make sure that Martyn has your email address or some means of contacting you. They are very informal and its a great chance to get together, so hopefully you will come along! |
Photographs If you have any photographs of us that you would be willing to share, please send them to Martyn here or Amanda here . Many thanks in advance. |
